As of now, the main part of my college list is (loosely ranked):

University of Maryland (in-state)
University of Southern California
University of Virginia
Washington University in St. Louis
Emory
Wake Forest University
Georgetown University

Some about me:

3.9 UW GPA, 8 APs, 1800 on a practice SAT freshman year so I'm aiming for a 2000+
300+ Community Service Hours
4 year varsity athlete (one year captain)

If I applied to all seven of those universities, should I feel comfortable I would gain admission into at least one of them? I'm hoping to get into Maryland and USC as those are my top two choices, but do I need to add another school to the list just to make sure I get in somewhere? Thanks in advance

Edit - I forgot to mention I am planning on majoring in business so being accepted to one of these schools is being accepted to their business school as well.

Are you already a senior? Shouldn’t you have taken the SAT last year?

If you actually end up getting a 2000, I would say that you probably don’t need a safety, but just in case you’re rejected for some other reason, I would add one.

Ah. I see. Greatest basketball game I’ve ever been to. I was very proud to lead the rush onto the court. Your fans travel incredibly well. There were a few hundred that drove to Philly just for that game.

Orange, aren’t you making a lot of assumptions? How can you know what your GPA will be, you have not even taken your SATs and you can’t have played 4 years of varsity sports if you are only half way through high school. It is too early for you to know whether your list matches your credentials. You need to chill…

You are right, I don’t know what my GPA WILL be; but I know what my GPA IS CURRENTLY. I took a practice SAT my freshman year so I told you guys what I got on that and added a modest improvement to that (do you see an exact number of what I got on my SAT? Didn’t think so). And I can tell you that I played four years of varsity sports because I played number one on my tennis team last year and the coach already told me I would be captain next year. The only way I don’t make the team is if I skip tryouts.

I don’t know where this “need to chill” came from. All I did was ask if I needed to change my school list. Is that really “unchill”?

Remember- some of the schools on your list will not guarantee acceptane to their business school. For example, you will have to apply to Emory’s Goizueta School of business during your Soph yr.

Does UMBC have a business program? Would that be a safety for you?
