Do I need to add anymore ECs?

Hi, I'm new here. :) I thought this would best fit here since I'm only a freshman. I don't really know what I want to major in or become when I'm older, but I do know I'm shooting high -- I'm the Ivy League type of person. I'm also considering art college.

Anyways, these are some of the ECs I've already started:

Tae Kwon Do - 8 years by the time I'm a senior.
Art classes - 5 years by the time I'm a senior.
Student council - 4 years by the time I'm a senior.
Mondays & Wednesdays I'm a homework tutor.
Fridays are spent helping 2nd graders write stories.
Next year, I'll be working for TeenLine for two years.
I'm also definitely adding more community service opportunities as I get older 'cause my goal is ~5000 hours of community service by the end of senior year. :D

So now the questions:

I'm self-studying piano. Is that considered an EC?
What fun ECs have you guys done? :D
And are the ECs I have enough?

Thanks so much. :)

Don’t add EC’s just to do them. Do them because you want to because you will enjoy them. Having 2 EC’s you devote much of your time to is better than having 7 you devote little to.

^ Yeah, I was just about to post the same thing.

Ahh, so true. My school schedule is extremely short though, and I find I always have free time that I never can quite fill up. I’m also a very self-improvement type of person, so I can’t get enough of ECs! :D

How short is it though?

8:30-2:00 in school with pretty much nothing to do afterward except for piano (30 minutes) and homework tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays (1 hour). I also don’t have school on Fridays, which is where I do one hour of helping write stories and that’s it. Saturdays are 6 hours of art classes. Sundays are completely free. The Tae Kwon Do schedule changes but it’s only 30 minutes to an hour. I also rarely have friends over because I live far away, and I’d rather not waste my life away on the internet like I always do. :)

What ****ed up, yet awesome school do you go to? My school goes from 8:45 to 4… you don’t go on fridays??? :</p>

WOW that is lucky, I got from 8-3:30. I think that your ECs are fine, just show a consistent interest in a particular subject matter (as in if you’re a science person, have science-related ECs as some of your major ones). Also focus on some awards and leadership, and awesome community service! :)

It’s just an alternative school… an awesome one at that. XD They reward doing all your homework with no school on Fridays. :)

Just a quick question – is self studying an instrument, a language, or anything else major like that considered an EC?

if you go somewhere with it, it’s a great EC, it’s still an EC if you self-study it no matter what.

piano would be more a hobby. i wouldn’t’ mention it. Keep ur ec’s the same.
