Do I need to (and/or should I) take chemistry in high school?

I’m a sophomore in high school, I took biology freshman year, and I am currently taking physics this year, and I love it (and I’m really good at it). When we registered for junior year back in February, for my science class I chose AP Physics 1. I still have yet to take chemistry. I plan on going to Utah State University, and if possible, I want to avoid taking chemistry in high school because if I do take it I will probably have to take it either instead of AP Physics 1 then take AP Physics 1 senior year, but then I won’t be able to take AP Physics 2 (which I want to take).

I’m thinking of just sticking with AP Physics 1 junior year and if I begin losing interest in physics or I just don’t have an interest in AP Physics 2 I’ll take chemistry senior year. But I need to know if chemistry is better taken (maybe too easy as a senior?) junior year than senior year. Any input?

And of course, finally, do I have a better chance getting into USU if I take chemistry in high school? Will I have to take chemistry in college if I don’t take it in high school, and will it be harder?

Thanks in advance, everyone.

Uh the Utah State acceptance rate is 97.8% haha. I mean if you’re shooting for USU then I guess it doesn’t matter, but if it were anywhere else I’d take Chem.

You’ll likely be fine without it, unless USU requires a year of highschool chem. They seem to have a high acceptance rate!

I would still recommend you take chemistry, though- either by doubling up or making room for it one year. It’s a really cool class!
