Do I need to inform my university of these CC course changes?

I’m attending a California community college at the moment, and transferring to San Francisco State this fall. When I applied, I reported that I would take Economics Winter quarter and Philosophy Spring quarter. These are both general education courses not required for my major. I also reported that I would take an African American studies course in the Spring quarter. This is also a general education requirement (intercultural studies), not a major requirement. However, I am taking Philosophy now and Economics in the Spring, instead of how I originally reported it, because I applied for transfer before registration opened and Philosophy had the perfect time slot for my schedule open. I also found out about an intercultural speech class that fills the same general education requirement as the African American studies course, and given that I really like speech classes and am in a major with a fair amount of community meetings involved I really want to take the speech class instead. Do I need to report these changes to my university, or will they not really care since none of these are required classes for my major and I will still have all my general education requirements fulfilled?

To be safe, report all changes to previously reported in-progress or planned course work to the colleges that you applied to.
