I promise, this is the last question I have about packing stuff. I just don't know if there are water fountains in the dorms or not.

Do you mean a reusable water bottle? Or plastic ones you buy and throw away?

I’d bring a reusable bottle or two; you can fill it up in the dining halls, the cafes and there are plenty of water fountains on campus.

I’d also bring a Brita pitcher + filters instead of a flat of plastic disposable water bottles. Easier to manage (you can keep the Brita in your fridge and fill up the reusable bottles with it, too) and it’s more environmentally friendly!

Zelda does the tap water on campus taste as bad as I have heard most of Southern California water does? If so, the Brita sounds like a great idea. Do the dining halls have better water?

I’d actually recommend water bobbles. They’re refillable water bottles with filters on the top so you can just fill them up with tap. The filters only need to be replaced every couple months (but mine lasted me at least a semester).

I would never drink California tap water. Or any tap water. Filter it.

Tap water from my hometown is amazing, even better than filtered water here :D

But yes, definitely get a water filter pitcher.

LA/USC tap water is ok, but better filtered. Bobbles are starting to catch on on campus, or just use a Brita and a reusable bottle.

Is the minifridge big enough to accommodate a 6 cup Brita pitcher?

I guess it is – it’s the size of any normal mini fridge. Go look at one at Target and see if you think it’ll fit.

why does brita need to go in the fridge?

and when you guys are talking about tap water does that also mean from the water fountain? can you refill water from there?

…for cold water? I keep my Brita in the fridge. Always have! If you like warm water, then don’t put it in.

Why wouldn’t you be able to fill up water bottles from a fountain? I would still filter it unless you like metallic-tasting water.
