I took SAT math2 and physics in May, got 800 in math and 710 in physics. It is too low for me to apply top colleges such as UChi, Duke, Brown etc.?
BTW I am an international student who’s studying now in the U.S. (transferred)
Please reply, thank you!
Yeah its definitely too low. Retake it and get a 780+
Anything 700+ is considered fine.
You’re good bruh
A 710 in physics is 59th percentile.

Maybe retake for those schools, but other than the very best schools 710 is good.
Thank you guys. I think I will take it again in Nov.
Try an easier SAT 2 maybe? BIO you could probably self study and score higher on.
Look. Try to get higher… 740+. The 710 won’t screw you up or anything, but take it again just in case. Thing is, all the top students take the physics exam… So the percenticles are tough… But universities don’t care about SAT2 percentiles… Only the grade. That’s like saying an 800 on the SAT 2 is okay because its 86 percentile (like 630 on CR). It’s just that all the best take it. However, take it again just in case.
Most colleges don’t publish their SAT subject test percentiles but MIT does.
MIT’s 25th and 75th percentiles for the Science subject test is 740 to 800.

This would suggest that for the most competitive colleges that 750+ is a good score.
Also, I think most colleges should voluntary disclose their SAT subject scores.
