Do I need to retake SAT's if score is 2220?

My mom's been bugging me about my 2220 score. She thinks I have better chances at the Ivies if my score is higher.

I don't know if it's necessary for me to retake them.

What is everyone else's take on this?

Breakdown:
Writing: 690
Math: 750
Reading/Verbal: 780

retake it only if you think you can do better.

i think you should retake it if you're aiming for the top ivies

i would give my left arm for a 2220 lol

I agree, retake only if you think you're likely to do better. Your SAT score is very good in any case and is in the right range for the Ivies.

Why consider just ivys? There are plenty of amazing schools out there that aren't "ivy." That said, your score is excellent. Consider non-ivys such as Vassar, Carleton, Wash U. ... My daughter had a 2290 SAT and 35 ACT; she didn't apply to a single ivy, but got in at Carleton, Pomona, etc. Keep your options open, and good luck!

As long as your GPA and ECs are solid, your SATs require no further work.

IMO, retake to boost the Writing score to 700 or more. Although that's just 10 points, it looks better psychologically to an adcom. I got a 2220 on my first try and boosted that 130 points in time for my college apps so there definitely is room for improvement considering that I didn't think I was going to do much better on my 2nd try.

hmmm...if you think you can boost that writing go for it. However, even if you decide not to retake, your 2220 is a very good 2220 because the old score is 1530, which is already very high. M and CR are more important than W usually...

Would it be bad if I retook it and got a LOWER score?

they supposedly only consider the highest scores so...no.

It would be a waste of your own time and money if you did, of course.

If you feel you must and don't have a lot of other things to do than why not...
However, if you're going to be preparing obsessively and it will cut into your time when you could be filling out college apps and trying to get scholarships and keeping up with schoolwork, then a 2200 ain't bad!
and like cory123 said, math and cr are more important than writing, and you did an awesome job on both of those sections! (and a 690's pretty awesome too, it's just 10 points away from a 700!)
