<p>I'm not sure how to record this activity on applications. I've volunteered for the local Marsh since 10th grade through a combination of writing (interviews, pamphlets, etc) and research (ways to fix local algae problems, marsh science).</p>
<p>I started writing in sophomore year, but I didn't start doing research until junior year. I originally intended to write down the activity as "Writing and Research for Marsh." It's one of my main volunteer activities, and I'm writing my common app essay about it.</p>
<p>However, after looking at the common app, I realized that I probably need to separate the activity into "Writing for Marsh" and "Research for Marsh," as I started each portion during separate years. Is this necessary? I'd prefer to keep it as a single activity, as I worked with the same organization and people. Thanks for any help.</p>
