Do I need to show some STEM EC's?

I recently visited RPI and liked the school. I am not sure what to major in but am interested in chemistry, physics and nanotechnology. My GPA is 94.8, I got a 29 on my first ACT exam, 730, 720, 720, 680 on SAT II tests in chemistry, biology, world hist, us hist, respectively. By the time i graduate i will have taken 8 AP classes. So I think grade wise I am in the ballpark.

My EC's have nothing to do with STEM activities. I compete at a state and national championship level in my year round sport, having been a state champion one year. My sport requires 3 hours of training a day to compete at a high level leaving no time for EC's that are STEM related. I love my sport and want to continue st the D3 or club level in college. How big of a problem is it that I basically have just one non-related EC?

Thanks in advance for any ideas, suggestions or comments. I am really feeling conflicted over what to do.

You might want to post this question on the Engineering forum as well. It’s a good question.

I don’t know that STEM ECs are required, but my son had robotics and math club as his main ECs before he was accepted. I think they care a lot about math ACT and SAT scores also.
