Hello, I am a senior in high school this year and I am currently applying to Uconn, WPI, RPI, Northeastern, and RIT. I need to know if I should submit my subject test scores (will it help or hurt me?) I have a very high GPA, and will have taken Ap US, Ap Eng (11), Ap eng (12), Ap gov, AP stats at the end of senior year. I hold an officer position in two clubs, and do fencing as a sport (4 years for both). I also do community service in my town. My regular SAT score is 2090 (superscore). I took the subject tests but I got in the 600s on Math II and Lit. and in the 500s on Chemistry. Should I submit these at all? How important are these to these schools above? Will it help me chances or hurt my chances. I do not want to take these again and I'd like to know if I can just apply without them and still have a chance of getting accepted.

most places you have to submit at least 2 sat subject test scores. if this is the case, just study and retake them or pick new ones to take in october or november.

i don’t know a lot about those schools in particular… but in any case if sat 2 scores aren’t required, i definitely would not submit the chem score. as for the others, high or low 600s? it looks like you’re interested in the science route at college, which is a bit worrisome for the mat 2 score. was it higher or lower than your sat I math section score?

With two exceptions, the schools you list do not require, recommend, or consider SAT IIs for admission unless you are home-schooled. One exception is WPI which does not require or recommend them but will give them some consideration if provided. Scores in the 600s are something to consider sending WPI but the 500 is probably one not to send. The other exception is RPI which requires a math and science only if you are applying under one of its Accelerated Programs (basically programs to get combined undergrad and advanced degrees where you can start on advanced degree before completeing four years for undergrad degree). Otherwise you don’t need to provide any SAT IIs.

Thus, you can choose to send none to all of them unless you are applying for an RPI accelerated program. As to comment above that for most places you have to submit two subject tests, the opposite is true. Majority of colleges do not even consider SAT IIs even if you send them.
