I’m worried I haven’t taken enough science standardized tests. I took several bio classes (beyond AP level but more specialized so I didn’t get a lot of macro bio) this year. I was planning on taking the bio sat ii this June but panicked and took lit instead. I’ve now taken the sat, two sat iis (math 2 and lit), and a few aps (comp sci, gov, calc bc, Lang, world). I’m going into my senior year. Would it be worth studying for the bio sat ii and taking it in the fall to have more science scores? Especially bc I took so much bio and am doing a bio research internship. I’m planning on applying to some pretty prestigious schools.
Most colleges only require 2, except like Georgetown which recommends 3, so unless you’re applying there I don’t think it matters much. What did you get on Math II and Lit?
I really don’t think you need another test then because those are excellent scores. If you do decide to take it, it’s actually really easy, the curve is just pretty terrible.
There is currently no school in the US REQUIRE 3 SAT2 scores, but a few programs do (e.g. Integrated Science at Northwestern). Those schools that previously require 3 SAT2 scores had dropped down the requirement to 2 in last few years. Nevertheless, there are schools still recommend 3 or more SAT2 scores particularly for home schooled students.
Thanks that’s reAssuring! I’m happy with my scores, just worried that they don’t reflect my interest/ability in science especially bc I have so few science APs.
@nevergiveupp I actually decided to take lit like 2 days before the test, so I didn’t spend a lot of time studying. I did like half of a practice test from some book I found online and decided i would at least do better at lit than at bio, and then gave up on studying. I’ve done well on CR portions of the sat and psat (800 and 80), so I think that’s a good indicator of being ready. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful! But there are a lot of good threads on cc about it too
The issue you have is intended major. A number of the colleges that require or recommend subject tests require or recommend a math and a science subject test for those applying for a major in engineering or science. Otherwise, you should be fine with what you have except for Georgetown which recommends three subject tests.
