I’m 100% sure that I’m going to major in the humanities, but have only taken SAT subject tests in the sciences.
I did well in them - 800 in Chemistry and 790 in Biology-E - but I’m not sure if I should take a Literature or History subject test. I don’t have as much time to study and would probably do worse on any additional test.
Is it going to look bad to top schools if I lack a humanities subject test, or am I completely overthinking things?
If it makes any difference, both my recommenders are humanities teachers and I have some good AP scores in US/Euro History and English.
You have to look specifically at what the colleges ask to see. If it says a certain # of subject tests are “recommended”, then treat that recommendation as if it said “required” .
If you are a JR then there is still time to take a Humanities subject test in the Spring.
What are your good AP test scores? 4’s or 5"s?
No more subject tests! You can apply as an ‘undecided’ major and no one will wonder where your humanities subject test is, and the subject tests you did take you got fantastic scores so you look great. Focus on other things like your well-roundedness, colleges like that.
