Do I need to take Math II for top schools?

I haven't taken Pre-Calculus yet, and I am not good at math. Math II would be a summer self-study for me, and it would take a lot of time.

The schools I am applying to only require two SAT IIs. I have already taken Bio and Lit, but my Lit score will probably be low. If I don't take Math II to replace Lit, I will probably take a history (also a self-study, but probably easier for me because it is more memorization).

I checked the websites of all the colleges that I am thinking about applying to, and none of them require/recommend Math II. (I'm not talking about Math I vs. Math II - just SAT IIs in general.) However, someone told me that since all the applicants to the top schools take it, you look bad if you don't. Is this true?

Also, if you are planning to major in science (as am I), are there special SAT II requirements/recommendations (Math II)? I read somewhere that Math II was recommended for UCSD and Stanford science majors, but I can't find the info online anymore so I can't check.

Thank you for your input!

If your intended major is math/science related, I would highly suggest taking MATH II. However, If you are majoring in something where math ability isn’t important, I wouldn’t worry about it.

My intended major is Biology. I realize that math will be important for me in the future, but I don’t want to waste time studying where it’s not really necessary. So unless a science major program that I am applying to requires/recommends it, I probably won’t take it. Do you know if Stanford/UCSD science programs require/recommend it?
