Do I need to take regular economics before AP Macroeconomics?

I'm taking AP Macro next year and I was wondering if I should self study regular economics before the AP course. Is there a lot you need to know beforehand or is a lot of stuff repeated? Thanks!

It is not necessary to study prior to starting the course.

Macro/ Micro are both one semester courses, you’ll be fine.

Macro though, before Micro.

Like US Gov, it’s nice to be politically “savey” but not needed to get a 5.

At least understand the relationship between supply and demand on a superficial level before you go in lol.

Like div301 said, don’t go in completely clueless, but a course beforehand isn’t really necessary.

My school only offers ap macro and micro economics (one course, each a semester). I went in with an average understanding of both and got a 4 on both.

Absolutely not. AP Econ are taken in the same grade level as you would take the normal Econ. In our school, seniors are the only ones allowed to take any Economics course, and they can choose between AP or normal (“Advance Econ” in our school). Whether you want to take Macro or Micro depends on what your college major is, or just solely depend on your HS.

Like my HS only offer Macro, so we had to take Macroecon for the AP.

I self studied macro and micro this year and got 5s on both. I wouldnt imagine you need prior knowledge, if anything you could always study a bit on your own if you feel behind. I cant wait to take more economics in college, its really interesting!
