University of Washington
Portland State University
Boston University
University of Denver

Unless you see the words “test optional” on their website or application, then the answer is yes, you do.

If you don’t, you’ll shut lots of doors. Think positive. You might do much better than you give yourself credit for.

Yes, you do.
Only “test optional” schools do not require the SAT or the ACT.
If you haven’t registered for the December test yet (deadline was Nov 8) you can “late register” online or by phone, but hurry!

I MEANT which test is required for each college!

If it makes a difference all of those 4 are out of my state.

With very rare exception (and maybe now no exception), all colleges accept both tests. You pick the test you do best at. The schools really don’t care.

You can take EITHER test. Many students take both, and send the scores of the test where they did the best! :)

Go to the web site of each of those schools and run the Net Price Calculator to see if you can afford to attend them. Out of state students pay a premium for tuition at Public universities.

If you take the SAT you’ll often have to take the subject tests as well.

Paying more for out of state tuition, I think it’ll be worth it for me.

Even if it’s triple the price. My whole life quality depends on college. Everyone (or at least ALOT of people’s) do.

yes we understand, and you can’t stay in your town and would rather live away from your state due to the bad situation you’ve been experiencing.
But you won’t be allowed to take more than $5,500 in loans, so it’ll do you no good to get into a school you can’t afford. College graduates’ average loan for 4 years is $27,000 total.
So you need to plan.
If you really want to go out of State, apply to some private colleges. Apply to a few more colleges in the same areas as the ones that interest you or similar to them but easier to get into (for example, if you like Portland State, apply to SOU in Ashland, if you like U Washington apply to U Puget Sound…). Some colleges have already been suggested, as have the names of colleges in cities with excellent public transportation.

You need: 2 safeties (schools you’re absolutely sure you can get into, like, and can afford), 3-4 matches (schools you’re reasonably sure you can get into, like, and can afford according to the Net Price Calculators) then as many reaches as you wish or can afford.

You sound like the perfect candidate for someone who will end up hating college when it doesn’t magically turn your life around.

Make sure you look at colleges in your OWN state for affordable options. TX is large enough you don’t have to live near home.
