I took the ACT in September and got a 33 and a 25 on the writing, and I took it again in December and got a 34 but only a 19 on the writing. Should I retake it to get a higher writing score or does the writing score not matter that much?
No. I too got a high composite but low writing score. Colleges simply don’t care that much about writing, and especially not with the new format. The fluctuation is major and seems unreliable.
I think colleges look more into your application essays than your writing scores. I dont think it matters as long as you write good essays.
Won’t matter with such a high composite score.
Same! My Writing score is my lowest. It’s even worse than Science, which I thought I bombed since I put C’s on like the last 6 questions.
Time to spend time on another aspect of the application requirements. Your scores are just fine for most schools.
@NorthernMom61 When you say “most schools”, do you think I have a chance for schools such as Vanderbilt?
@Yomo710 @lulu0207 @ZainSD I just feel like it’s going to look bad on my application because my writing score is so low compared to my composite score.
You are done. No more standardized testing. The new essay scores have been low. Dont worry about it.
Wait how do you get a 34 composite with only a 19 in writing?
Get a rescore!
