I am a senior in High School, and I wanted to know if I should take the ap tests for the 5 Ap classes I am in. I told UCLA on the application that I would take the AP tests as a senior. I am a premed and I heard you are not allowed ap credit at UCLA if premed so there is no point in sending the scores.

take the tests. if you take ap classes, the school expects you to take the tests.

Will they know if I didn't?

I didn't take AP tests for ALL of my AP classes...didn't seem to hurt...

no theres no way of them knowing. Like the SAT, you have to send your test scores to the respective colleges. Hell, you could take none of them. im not gonna take a few of mine

If you don't want to take courses higher than Calculus, don't take your math APs and take calculus again in college and have that satisfy your math requirements (pre-med). You might want to take AP English (either one) because if you get a 4/5 score, you get to pass out of a waste-of-time English class. :) Google search UCLA/AP credit and check out the AP policies.

if you're thinking about not taking the tests just because UCLA won't accept them, then i wouldn't say that's a good enough reason.
even if the AP units got you absolutely no credit for certain classes, wouldn't they still give you units?
you could come into UCLA with at least 20 to 25 units, complete one quarter, and have sophomore standing.
and there's always the possibility that you decide later on NOT to be premed, in which case, you'll really want those units!
so unless there are other reasons you don't want to take the AP tests, i say go for it. ;)

I suppose. Does UCLA have a cap? Also, unless ur sure u can pull of a 4/5 dont waste ur money, 3's at a school like LA will give u 0 credit

flong, you should look up the AP policies. Surprisingly, UCLA accepts a lot of scores of 3. It will depend though. (Again, look it up.)

hooray for ap scores of 3!

sophomore standing!

Really La Gives Credit? All The Privats Are Like "**** U" Towards 3's

A lot of AP courses will only give you "excess units" within the HSSEAS, which will help you towards "higher class standing".

If you took the classes, you should take the APs for them if you know you will pass. Premed does NOT like to allow kids to validate/skip core or freshman courses but you never know. You may not get credit per se, but some schools will let you skip and move on like to organic chem, calc 3, etc. Ask the school for specifics.

i guess i will take them, I will probably end up taking the classe again since, premed does not allow receiving of ap credits.

You can receive credits for some courses, but for certain not Chemistry.

You are not a premed major (there is none), or not even along that path YET.

i agree with liyana...check out the AP policy and see which tests will help you out.
