Do i need to take the math placement test at SA if i got a 4 on Calc AB, 3 in BC?

so at SA… there’ll be 2 tests right? 1 math 1 chem?! thanks!

yes, you'll have to take a math and a chem placement test if you plan on enrolling in those classes. even if you pass the ap exam. it's pretty easy tho :D

when i took the chem and math tests a few years ago. Everyone was freaking out about the chem test. Some people were even studying. It's not too bad of a test. Definitely harder than the math one.

If you want to be sure you'll pass it, maybe review a bit. But, i wouldn't worry about.

thanks roldie & pippyvan! =)

this is straight from the horse's mouth:

"Advanced Placement students who have scored 4 or 5 on the Mathematics AB exam or 3,4, or 5 on the Mathematics BC exam or received a score of 700 and above on the SAT Math as recorded in their application file are not required to take the placement exam. If students opt to take the placement exam because their AP scores are not yet available they have the option of taking the math placement exam."

have a nice day.

i got higher than 700 also...

ok now im confused again @_@

I got 5 on Calc AB and 5 or 4 for sure on BC, 800 on SATII Math L2 and I think I will have to take math test and summer orientation, but again, if you scored 3-5 on Calculus, then you'll be fine.

wow, what do you guys not get? just read what i wrote earlier -- otherwise, chuck norris will be forced to roundhouse kick you to next month for wasting my time.

OMG, freaking SWEET. No test for meeee...relieved

What about the chem one?

In doraemon's post it gives a link to the placement test info which includes chem.

"The Chemistry Diagnostic Exam is required of all students who intend to take general chemistry (Chem 2A or 2AH), including students with Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry scores of 3 or 4. Students who received a score of 5 on the Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry exam, do not need to take the Chemistry placement exam. The PreCalculus Exam is also required for Chemistry 2A or 2AH (unless the student was exempt from taking the PreCalculus exam- see above). Freshmen participating in Summer Advising will take the exam at that time; the tests are scored immediately and results are available the same day. These tests may be taken twice during any given academic term; Summer Advising counts as a Fall Quarter test. Calculators are allowed on this exam. "

Hm. What if Chem isn't a req for our major?

The first line: "The Chemistry Diagnostic Exam is required of all students who intend to take general chemistry"

Makemehappy, I really don't know how much clearer it can be, it says right there you take it if you're going to take Chem. Most people take the Chem test or the language test. I'm in social sciences so screw Chem and i'm taking the language one.

...Well, yeah, I know it's a requirement if you take chem. I'm just wondering if I could skip that because, like you, I'm in the social sciences, and chem isn't a requirement for my major. You misunderstood my question. (:

now where is chuck norris?? hehe jk. ;-P

Like I said before you either take the language or the chem test. you can't take both because they are at the same time (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the second day). Since you're getting a B.A. and you're in the social sciences you will take the language test (since language classes are required) unless you are starting a new language. its a good idea to look around the link that someone posted. it's all there. btw im sure that there are tons of other sciences to take, even the study of making wine or growing grapes. i think one of those is viticulture or something.

don't worry
