Hi, im a rising senior and since i am a South Korean citizen. Even though i moved to America in 4th grade and have stayed here since, I am wondering whether i need to take the TOEFL test to fulfill the international student requirement. I have already taken the ACT and have a superscore of 35(35, 35, 34, 35).

Yes I need an answer to this as well. I’m Indian and came here when I was 5 (permanent resident) but idk if I still need to take that.

Doubt it considering you’ve taken full-English education for way more than 3 years. However, to be sure, check up with each school you’re applying to.

after a little research, i believe TOEFL requirement depends case to case. Cornell had “TOEFL exempt” section that said if you scored higher than 700 on the Critical Reading on the SAT, you do not have to take the TOEFL. However, Amherst had something like, “if you completed all of your secondary education in the U.S., you don’t have to take it”. I’m guessing for most colleges, we could get exempt from taking it

You need to ask every single college and university that you apply to about this. Even though most would not require the TOEFL in your case, ther are some that do require it if English is not your first language even if you have been entirely educated here.
