I'm an international student applying to US schools. I live in the US and just recieved a social security number. I'm applying for financial aid.

Now that that's out of the way, do I get considered for financial aid if I have a ssn or something? And if so should I call or email admissions offices?

AFAIK, you can't get financial aid without supplying a social security number. It doesn't have to be on your application for admission, though; just on your financial aid application.

You don't automatically get considered for need-based financial aid; you must apply for it. Some colleges will automatically consider you for merit-based aid when you apply for admission. You don't have to supply your SSN in your admission application in order to be considered for merit-based aid, but you do have to supply your SSN in order to accept it.

For further questions on financial aid, I'd suggest you post them in the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/ forum, where folks with more knowledge on that topic will see your questions.
