when you fill out the FAFSA it will tell you what your EFC is and what federal aid programs you would qualify for, and the $5500 loan. your schools will determine how much they expect you to pay and you won’t know that until they give you your award, however you can check to see how much need they typically meet.

Most everyone “qualifies” for the FAFSA. It is a FORM that collects financial information primarily to determine your eligibility for federally funded need based aid. Some schools use this info to award their institutional money as well.

The only ones who do not qualify for the FAFSA are students who are not citizens and do not have permanent resident status. They cannot receive federally funded money.

So…yes…complete the FAFSA…do it ASAP.

CSU??? Which one???

If you’re instate for a Calif public, then you’d likely get a Cal Grant and a Pell Grant that should cover much of your costs…and maybe a student loan and work-study for the rest. If you go to a UC, then you’d get the Blue and Gold Promise.

Get to work on that FAFSA! Your family income suggests that you would likely be eligible for Pell Grant. Depending on the number of people in your household, you could get a VERY generous Pell Grant. What are you waiting for…?

What colleges are you talking about???

To the OP…did you end up dropping all of your classes? You actually might NOT qualify for aid if you don’t meet your schools SAP which varies by school. You need to check this.

If OP is a senior and asking about for this coming fall: the deadline to file FAFSA is today for California public schools.

From other threads…the OP WAS a college freshman this past fall. It is unclear what he is doing now. At one point in the fall, he was considering dropping ALL of his courses because he was not passing them. I think he may have withdrawn from school but not clear on when.

OP…could you please clarify your situation…folks can’t give you an answer about financial aid with the above missing pieces.
