Do I really have NO chance or what?? I don't understand.

I've been accepted to USC, UCSD, and UCLA.
I've been rejected from UCB, MIT, WUSTL, Cornell, Stanford, and Johns Hopkins.

I'm an Asian male California resident. I can't believe I've been rejected to 4 out of 4 east schools!!! My only last hope is Emory, which will be on Friday. Did I seriously aim too high or do I just have bad luck!?

My essay was lyrics I made about myself by the way, because I compose my own music (I tried to stand out in my application by doing that).

Your SAT score doesn’t put you in a competitive spot. Your ECs, however, could help you out.

You probably did aim too high – not because you had no shot at those places (you had some sort of realistic chance at all of them), but because they all are virtual toss-ups. If you had your heart set on the east coast, you definitely should have mixed in a few non-ivy caliber schools. I’d still say that Emory is a high match, anyways. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got in, or if you were wait-listed. Just be proud of the schools you got into (they aren’t exactly easy…).

Also, when did St. Louis move to the east coast? :)

thanks you guys.

bump! can i get a little more input on this? I just feel a bit dumbfoundead that I haven’t even got accepted to one east coaster…

Yeah, unfortunately your SAT is sorta low compared to these schools. How is your school? I would think with a 4.70 you would get into JHU.

The valedictorian in my class has around a 4.8… so I’m not too far from him. The highest GPA in our school’s history is like a 4.9. Ughhh I’m so devastated I got rejected from all of these schools!!! Maybe it was my essay that they didn’t like? It was my masterpiece of lyrics that say who I am.
