Do I really have to send all ACT/SAT scores to UC's?

I’m applying to UC’s and California state schools. I only submitted one of my test scores, the second ACT I took. I took an SAT last year without studying and I did pretty badly on the math because my teacher had just been fired for not teaching us anything. My first ACT after that was a little better but not very good, and then on my second ACT I improved in every single category. Do I still need to send my first ACT and my SAT to all colleges, since my second ACT has the highest on every section?
Applied: Humboldt and San Diego State (got in), Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, and UC Berkeley

Cannot answer for “all” colleges but if you are asking about the UCs and CSUs (including Poly’s), then the answer is you can send just one ACT and nothing else. CSU’s have no all scores rule. UCs require all SATs only if you decide to send an SAT but you can instead send just one ACT.

As to sending to those colleges, I assume you are aware that you need send your ACT score to only one UC and all UCs will get it, and you can send the ACT score to any one CSU and then use a tool on the CSU Mentor site to provide the score to other CSU’s after the first CSU has received it…

That is not correct. If requires all sat/act.

Sorry about typo…couldn’t edit. UC requires all sat/act scores. Score choice is not allowed. Check the website.

UC requires all scores.

CSU does not, but they superscore and just plug that into a formula.

Okay, but will it harm my chances of getting in more if I send the crappy SAT score or will it be worse if I don’t?

If you do not follow the rules, you could get auto-rejected or rescinded on that basis.

For CSU, there is no harm (other than possibly the cost of another score report) in sending additional scores, since CSU will use the highest superscore to plug into a formula.

Just saying, you can’t blame your math teacher when the math on the SAT is barely Algebra 2 level.

The UC requirement is stated here http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/requirements/examination-requirement/index.html It states you are required to send SAT or ACT and does not say you must send both if you have both. It states in relation to the SAT that in the College Board’s score choice module, be sure all scores are sent and that it requires all scores. In the next paragraph, it talks about the ACT and does not say applicants are required to send all ACT scores. ACT does not even have score choice since it sends only one test per order. The guidelines provided on that official statement of guidelines thus appear to require you to provide either the SAT or ACT, not both, and you can send only one ACT if you choose. One might argue it is ambiguous and might be construed differently but if a college is going to have a rule actually requiring all SAT and all ACT scores, it is incumbent upon it to make that clear in its guidelines and its failure to do so should not be used adversely against an applicant.

If there is some other rule put out by the UCs that states It requires all ACT scores or both all SAT and all ACT scores, could someone direct me to it because I have not been able to find it, and if the rule is different from what is stated in those official guidelines, it is also incumbent upon the college to make it easily findable.

Thanks guys. And @anxiousenior1 I can when they taught me all the wrong methods and techniques in specific tutoring lessons

UC policy clearly states that they require ALL scores. Proceed at your own risk if you don’t. The UCs are known to
rescind.

@2018eastorwest then please post that policy. @drusba is very conscientious about SAT/ACT requirements and would love to have a more certain position than the one outlined online from the UCs.
