The university is so large with computer labs everywhere that I am seriously considering not buying one. Can I rent computers out there? If I do need to buy one, what is a recommended laptop/tablet?
I’m going to McCombs and only need the computers for academic purposes.
Thanks.
I would think you will want a computer. Doing everything in the computer labs would get old quick and inconvenient for others in your group if doing group projects. But to each his own.
Yes, get a laptop. The Lenovo Essential G50 is a reasonably priced and powerful model, but the most common laptops I see on campus are macbook pros
Yes the school has lots of places where you can get access to those lab computers, but just like the other two people said, it’s going to be quite inconvenient if you don’t have a personal computer because sometimes those lab computers could be occupied pretty quickly especially during the exam weeks… so I would suggest you get one laptop. I wouldn’t recommend any tablets(besides surface pro) because they aren’t productive enough and will sometimes get you into unexpected technical issues. Hope this helps!
Definitely get a laptop. I use a macbook air for my classes and I love it, battery lasts me all day (I’ve only brought a charger to school twice with me all semester) and it’s light. A lot of Lenovo’s are actually more affordable than Mac’s and I think Windows is known to run programs you’ll need in McCombs more efficiently than a Mac would.
