Do I really want to go to Emory?

It's a good school and that. (everybody knows that)

but why and how specifically?

i just feel like I am wasting my time applying there...... sad...:(

you really don't. it's basically George Mason mixed with WashU.

actually, i don't even really know well about Washu and jeorge mason.

I am tired. :p

callingducks,

how is emory = wash u + george mason?

i applied to emory and still don't know a whole lot about the school, so I'm curious.

I applied to Emory. Withdrew my application because of ED success elsewhere, but I definitely would have been happy to go there.

It's a solid school with a lot of money. They're one of the few schools that has launched a competitive effort in the latest round of the financial aid arms race. (Emory Advantage)

Oxford College is a unique system. No football team is also a relative rarity. Their b-school is 4th in US news. Atlanta has a more temperate climate than Emory's northeastern peers. The Dalai Lama hearts Emory.

Its a very strong academic school, that is a tad bit competitive in spirit once you are there and that is how it resembles WashU...which is a superb school but also a very frenetic student body....or at least that is what we observed when we visited two years ago (with several students telling us privately that it can get a little cut throat, especially in pre med.) But we also really liked WashU despite that fact. We were waitlisted and so we moved on.

If you like sports dont go to Emory. Its sports challenged, shall we say. If sports is not your thing, then its a great school and a great choice.

Emory = Heavy greek + lots of rich New Yorkers + strong academics + strong sports + lots of drinking

Its heavy greek, lots of rich kids from the Northeast AND the South, strong academics, lots of drinking but no sports....no football team and basketball is lame. When I say sports, I mean the sports that fans attend.

Wake Forest is all of the above with a great sports reputation, including a recent NCAA Div. I Soccer National Championship.
