Hello,
I am a white female living in southern california.
Currently I am looking into Northwestern, UCLA, and UCB
My stats:

GPA- Soph year averaged = 3.9 ( 1 AP)
Junior year averaged = 4.4 ( 3 AP 1 Weighted)
Senior year = pending ( 4 AP 1 Weighted)

SAT- 2050

SAT II - 1950

Extra Curricular -
Played violin for nine years
Seven years in school orchestras
Outside ensembles
Service and dedication awards from conductor
Currently organizes and performs along with groups of high school students to play for less fortunate, once a month

Also, one month trip to Spain, with homestay and classes to improve linguistic skills

Please give opinion as to what you think I should look into.
Am I reaching to far?
Any advice is appreciated.

first: what’s your unweighted gpa? that, and your ranking might be a better indicator of your performance in school.

also, your sat II is not 1950; it’s out of 800.

you have decent ECs and such except maybe a little bit of a weak SAT score-- it’s on the lower end of NU’s range. But you can always take the test in the fall if you want to raise it. ( i myself got in with a 2090 for w/e other compensating reasons, but it’s always better to have the highest score you can get, right?)

First, you obviously have worked very hard-pat yourself on the back. My DD got into all three-you can, too. It may come down to what major you want to pursue, however. Have you decided what you want to earn your degree in?

thank you for responding,
Kuku: my school does not supply unweighted gpa, however i do get about one or two Bs per semester, sat II, sorry for not being specific, was 1950 as all scores added together, so i had about 650 on each subject of math, english, and also chemistry, and yes i definately do plan on retaking the SAT reasoning

APOL: yes this is a problem I have, I am completely unsure of what major to pursue, I know it will be something in the math/science region but that is all… does Northwestern dislike undecided majors, or would it be best for me to apply with a major in that field? What kind of stats did your DD have?

subject scores shouldn’t be combined. what are their separate scores? you just need the top two you scored in. i think sat II’s are optional for NU, but it could help.

You need to figure out your unweighted GPA on your own if your school doesn’t compute it, because otherwise it’s impossible to assess how you compare to other applicants.
As for the SAT, what were your Math and Reading scores (forget the Writing for the moment; it doesn’t count for much at most schools)?
Your SAT Subject Test scores are not very competitive for NU; the math is particularly low.
Your music-related ECs are impressive.
