I know my GPA is terrible but do i stand a chance at all? I had a huge upward trend from a 2.5 Freshman year to a 4.1 Senior year. Low income and from a bad neighborhood. Chance me please?

See, this is one that I’m really not sure about. Your scores/academics/extracurriculars are honestly on the side of “no” (low GPA, meh AP scores, doesn’t appear to be a lot of depth of commitment or any one big “passion” in ECs), but you have a good hook with the URM/1st generation/low income, and the upward trend is good. I honestly think it could go either way, and that will completely depend on your essays and recs (ESPECIALLY your essays!)

Thank you! im working hard on my essays :)

I don’t think it looks good because there are now lots of URM’s with high GPA’s and high test scores with lots of activities. That GPA sticks out.
My son was waitlisted at Stanford: national merit winner, Mexican-American kid, Eagle Scout, Athlete, Legacy and didn’t get in. A number of his friends also didn’t get in. Stanford is very unpredictable so you needs some safeties.

Yah i applied to some Cal States and lower UC’s. Thank you!
