Hi, I'm currently a sophomore at Montclair State University (NJ) with a 3.3gpa. However, i'm determined to pull it up to at least a 3.4 I've been doing a lot of thinking over the past year as a freshman college student and have decided to try to transfer for my Junior Year. First off, i'm a business major (MIS) and I'm very interested in continuing my education in NYC.

Now the stressful part...

I'm dorming at Montclair State so I can afford to go away, but i do have a limit (lets say 30k).

What scares me...

My GPA! I really want to live in New York City so bad, but i'm scared my gpa won't be good enough for a lot of schools. I guess what I really want out of this thread is some suggestions of schools that sound like a good fit for me. Please don't be shy..I really need some help. Again, I'm looking for a school that has a Management information Systems department.

God Bless

Please someone…just name some schools. I really need some help here…

NYU, Fordham…Stevens Institute of Technology (great for business major plus right across from NYC). I feel so stupid for not naming more, knowing that I lived there for 3 years before I transferred out to another school. FIDM (maybe?) for business stuff is amazing.

I am not sure about NYU/Fordham/FIDMs financial aid, but I know Stevens (while very pricey at first glance) is very generous with financial aid…so it will definitely cost you less than 30k a year (this is not including loans.)

Thanks for the idea PlanetVenus, but I don’t think that i’m competitive enough to apply to schools like Stevens and NYU. Fordham is a little too much money and would probably fall into a reach school category. Erin’s Dad, I know what Cuny Baruch is and it does have a pretty good business school, however, I want to dorm or be guaranteed a place to live and I know that’s not necessarily the case for Baruch.

If you have any other ideas, please don’t hesitate people…thanks

Manhattan College?

Ive been looking at Manhattan College and it could as well be a possibility. I just don’t know good their MIS department is…

Look into Pace University they’re right in the financial district…your GPA doesn’t seem to far off from friends I know who go there.

Thanks for the suggestion LawandOrder21…Does anyone know if they have a good MIS department? Also are they usually generous in financial aid for transfer students (oos)
