Do I Stand a Chance? (LMU/CHAPMAN FILM PRODUCTION)

Hi Everyone,
I've been trying to avoid posting this for a while, but I can't help myself. I applied to Dodge Film Production (chapman) and LMU's film production, and I really want to know if I even stand a fighting chance.

Grade wise I'm lacking... I'm around a 3.2-ish N/W and 3.3-3.4 Weighted, which is awful for most of these schools. I have an ACT score of 26, which is right about on-par with the schools averages.

Despite my academic fallthroughs, I have quite a bit to make upfor it. Firstly, I am in a super select award-winning Film Academy at my highschool. It's nationally recognized and is one of the very few of its kind in the country. It's Junior and Senior years, and is English, History and an elective Documentary Filmmaking class. The academic standard of the program is skyrocketed compared to normal classes, as we learn what normal students learn in a whole semester in a half semester... the second half of both semesters is spent making professional quality documentaries. The grades across the board in the program are significantly lower because of this. My letters of Rec are from the History and Documentary teachers in the program, and my HS counselor wrote about the grade drops in her letter.

Also, I founded and have ran a fundraiser for the Make A Wish Foundation for 5 years called the Skate 4 a Cause. I wont bore you with details but I will say we have raised over $60,000 in total and the event has directed completely by me and my friend for all 5 years. I also have a letter of reccomendation from the Chairman/Head of the Greater Bay Area Make A Wish adressing this which was sent to both colleges.

Okay... I'm sorry i wrote you all an essay but I needed to give the full perspective. It may be alot of work to read, but think of it this way: I typed the whole thing on my iPhone. Now THAT is alot of work! :)

Thanks in advanced,

you’re on the borderline, according to the stats. but since you’re applyng to the film school, i hope you supplied lots of film related work in your app, like a portfolio or youtube link to your projects. if you haven’t, you can still send it to the office of undergraduate admissions and ask them to add it to your app

Chapman requested that applicants don’t submit videos other than what is required, which is a 2 minute profile on yourself without including yourself in the video. I made mine documentary-style and it is put together well, while also having a powerful story and some influential people (the head of Make A Wish) talk about me. I think I did a good job on it.

For LMU, I am submitting a documentary I produced in AIM which was submitted to the annual AIM film festival… it was one of the 10 out of 80 films to be shown. I am giving it to the Board Member I am meeting with tomorrow for my interview, as he’s sending it with his letter of rec.

Does the AIM/make a wish work not factor in that much, or will it make a difference?

bump… anyone??
