It would be my dream to transfer to The University of Chicago. What do you think my chances are, even though I did poorly in high scool, if I did really well on the SAT and graduated with a 3.94 GPA?
Also, what can I do to improve my chances of getting in?
Thanks so much in advance for your time/help/advice!

There have been many successful community college transfers to Chicago. You have a legitimate shot depending on your SAT scores and essays. I would say you have an excellent chance at U of I.

From personal experience, I would agree that UChicago is very welcoming of transfers from community colleges.

And yes, SAT is always important, although it is a known fact that it is less influential for a transfer applicant. With this in mind, the essay may be the second most influential factor next to GPA -- just speculation on my part.

From UChicago's website..

We do not give special consideration to students from any type of college; we regularly have admitted many transfer students from public schools and community colleges. We look for strong applicants who have demonstrated a high level of academic capacity and sought challenges at whatever school they previously attended.
