I got accepted to University of Utah.. but I don't know if it is a good uni

Thank in advance

Ok so your math SAT is pretty good, but I'm not feeling the verbal...lol, but if that's a good score on the TOEFL (I'm not sure what "good" is on that test) then I guess it is okay since you're international. The SAT IIs are good too, not amazing but I'd say you're "in the range" that everyone speaks of, except for the writing of course but they might excuse that. Since you're ranked 1 and you have good grades in school, they'll know you like work hard and make the best of the education that you're offered which I think can probably help you if you go to a school that might not be the best (explaining your non-amazing test scores) but still excel. The ECs thing will probably hurt you, esp. with no leadership, but if you emphasized your role on the teams...like how you motivate others or something, you might be able to show your involvement better.

As far as the international thing helping you, I'm really not sure. I was always under the impression that it was more difficult for non-US citizens to get in because there are so many, and of course only a certain number can be admitted. IDK though because I guess to an extent the whole diversity thing gets involved and helps you out...but then again if there are like a million international people applying it won't help you much. LOL, sorry, I'm rambling.

I would say you have a decent chance, esp. if you wrote really good essays that might set you apart from the other international people. FYI though usually I don't reply to these things because in reality none of us know what your chance is since we have NO IDEA how those crazy adcoms think! LOL

Thanks a lot NickyJane

I hope to meet you one day in Ithaca. Lets hope that happens

p.s. - I am a US-Citizen.
On cornell.edu site they say: Most admitted students have scores of above 250 on toefl

for the toefl thing see:
http://www.admissions.cornell.edu/FAQ.cfm

then see "What is the minimum TOEFL score one must receive?" in the international questions

or : you know I'll copy it and paste it here

the following is quoted from the admission site :
* What is the minimum TOEFL score one must receive?

The minimum score accepted for TOEFL is 550 (213 on the CBT) . Most admitted students have scores of 600 or above (or 250 on the computer-based test).

Oh, so is it just like you score above 250 and you're good? Or is it like SAT style, the higher above it you are the better of you are? (Is that a dumb question?)

And you're welcome...I hope to meet you too!!!!!!!!!! :D

i reedited the last post above

I hope that they accept all of above 250.LOL
