Do I stand a chance???

I am an ISS at a top rated metro high school. I am a 4th yr Latin student. Taking AP Calc and in the IB program. I am an officer in Key Club, in the Math Honor Society and FCA. I have also done many, many hours of community service.

My UW GPA is 3.2.

My composite ACT score is 31 (Eng-29; Math-33; Reading-28; Science-32). I am taking this test again on 9/11 as I did not do the writing portion of the test the first time.

I intend to apply for early decision. What do you think - do you think I have a chance?

The ACT score is fine. Your real problem is the UW GPA. Even If I assume you’re taking 12 weighted classes and make a guess on the number of classes/year, I get something like a 3.4-3.5 GT WGPA. That’s really on the low end for admission.

You were very vague on the EC’s, but nothing really stands out. I’d have to say that you’re a long-shot for admission. Sorry.

what about me . Im gonna be a senior. ive taken about 12 honors and AP courses. I have 2030 sat score. retaking it. hoping to get above 2250. my unweighted gpa is 3.432. im taking sat II math2 and physics. my ec’s are Spring track ANd field all 4 years. French Honors society. im in physics and chemistry club. math team. if i write a good essay could i get in to Georgia tech?

Your overall SAT is about average, which is good, but you don’t provide a breakdown by subject which makes it difficult to judge (Math is more important than Writing, for instance). Tech will not weight the honors classes, so the question is how many AP courses you’ve taken, and which ones (for example, Calc BC will be more valuable than Spanish). Your UWGPA is actually low for Tech, and your EC’s look a bit weak overall.

You look like a reach to me. Not hopeless by any means, so I would still apply. Your best bet would be to try to increase the UWGPA as much as possible this semester - shoot for a 4.0 UW this semester.

Hate to jump on the bandwagon here. I just have the essay left to write for all my schools. I am a 91.4 UW or 100.14 W. I have calculated it and I am a 3.61 UW and 3.97 W GPA. I took the ACT and got a 35. I have had a job since mid-summer as an intern. I am ALMOST an Eagle Scout and took the time to make sure that they know that all I have is the project left (and it is scheduled for the first weekend of November). I think my essay will be pretty good, but I am not thinking it will be exceptional. I also have played a lot of soccer for school and club and have 70+ hours of service.

I have taken the following AP classes: Comp Sci A, Comp Sci AB, English Comp, World History, Physics B, Calculus AB, Chemistry, US History. I am taking English Lang, Macroecon, and Physics C Elec, Mag, & Mech. Additionally I am taking Calc II, Calc III, Intro to Phil, Gov, and Differential Equations at the local community college…

The biggest fear I have is the 5 C’s (79’s) I have on my transcript. 3 of them are from Middle School. What would you guys say my chances are at GT? I am applying to Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, USC, Duke, and possibly a really high reach like Princeton or something…

^Lol who would consider middle school grades?
