Does a black kid with a 3.7 UW (3.2 UM GPA-because of sophomore yr) and a 1950 SAT from MAryland have a shot at Michigan. I visited with my firend and I liked it a lot. Any feedback would be nice. Thanx..o yea im from MAryland too...im not sure if that hurts or helps

actually you probably have a pretty good shot. not only are you a URM but you are out of state and i've heard that UMich has started giving preference to OOS kids because they can charge them more tuition. long as you don't need financial aid you should have a good shot. give high school schedule and class rank for a better guess...

It's a bit of a reach. The minority status helps, but you're out-of-state and your SAT is a little bit on the lower end.

Just apply at the VERY BEGINNING.

apply early. You'll easily get in since being a minority helps ALOT in michigan

Im taking all AP and honors classes by the way. Senior Yr. AP Calculus, Ap Physics, AP Spanish and the rest are honors classes. At my school we are only allowed 3 APs a year

heavenwood, i'm pretty sure that umich likes out of state applicants because they get more tuition money from them. so being OOS actually helps him rather than hurting him. long as he doesn't need financial aid...

also i'm pretty sure i'm right about umich preferring OOS kids i don't have an exact source but i remember reading it somewhere... ill try to find it

how early can you send your application into Michigan

Shazilla, that's NOT TRUE. It's HARDER to get in out-of-state.
