Currently attending Pasadena City College as a junior hoping to apply for tag to UCI Fall 2018 for Fall 2019. This semester I took a psych 2 class and got a F. Previously I had taken this class and got a D in it because of taking too many stem classes in one semester (which i soon realized was not a great idea) having combined chemistry, statistics and psych all into one semester just overloaded me. I was wondering do i still have a chance to tag to UCI for Fall 2019 because I had failed my psychology class twice which is a transferable course pertaining to my major psychology. I’m planning to get my bachelors in psych at UCI I am wondering if I still have a chance of tagging. I will be retaking the psychology class that I failed twice in the spring. It will be the spring before I apply for TAG during Fall 2018. Currently my UC transferable gpa is a 3.0gpa with the F factored in before retaking.
Well, first of all, I’m going to assume you’re talking about the psychology major that is offered by the school of social sciences, since there are two psychology majors at UCI. If you retake the class and replace the F with a passing grade, they will factor the new grade into the GPA calculations, rather than the old one. You should, however, be aware that you’ll need a 3.4 to TAG to Irvine. A 3.0 is just the minimum GPA to be admitted to the major. If you get above a 3.4 you should be fine to TAG.
