Do I still have a chance?

Hey everyone! I'm new here and was surprised at the constructive feedback people were receiving on the forums that I couldn't help but make an account :) . So, I currently just began my sophomore year in high school and feel so depressed and mad at myself regarding my performance last year. Freshman year was a huge transition for me and I was terrible at managing my time (still am a bit) and did not to great at all. I have a 3.5 UW, 3.8 weighted and my dream is to go to Johns Hopkins and my current GPA is terrible, my question is do I still have time to fix this? How do I manage my terrible sleep schedule and find the energy and motivation to do my homework and study? Thanks in advance.

What school do you go to? Does it send a lot of people there? You can always improve your grades. Try better.

School I go to: http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/florida/districts/collier-county-public-schools/barron-collier-high-school-4812</a>, and I have greatly improved my grades over the start of 10th grade.

Some schools don’t check freshman year grades, and most put much less weight on them. So you may still have a chance.

Hey!! I don’t go to Barron but I also live in Naples that’s crazy. And it is always possible to improve your grades by taking APs over the summer and in the school year. Always be positive, schools aren’t all about academics it’s also about extracurriculars so maybe John Hopkins will still accept you :)

That’s good to hear! Also, that’s pretty cool that you live in Naples, what high school do you go to?

i live right near Johns Hopkins and i can tell you that even if you get a 2200 on the SAT, with a GPA under the average like that it would really be a reach. Not trying to be negative or anything, but some of the smartest kids with 4.0s UW and only like 2000 don’t get in. Ace your SAT and bring the GPA up at least to a 3.8 and you’ll be set. Your GPAs are averaged out, so you would at least need to get an averaged 3.8 so try reaaallyyy hard and get a high GPA to balance out your others.

Thank you for your advice :)

@msalabarria i go to saint john neumann

Cool!
