Do I still have hope?

Do I still have hope of getting into Berkeley/UCLA?
OOS
Intended major: Econ
School: One of the best publics in the state. Sends a lot of kids to top schools every year
GPA: 3.3 UW, includes freshman year

Sophomore year (I hate B+s):
English honors 10 B/B
AP Chem B/B (no one got an A in this class)
US History B/B
Precalc honors B/B
French 4 B/B
Performing Arts A/A

Junior year (started working harder during 2nd semester, but too late I guess):
AP English language B/A (hardest class in the school)
AP Calc AB B/B

ECs/volunteer/etc:
Just assume that they're above average (one major "passion" + a few school clubs and other activities)

I know that UCB/UCLA probably favor grades over standardized test scores, so my GPA sets me back a lot. Do you think a really good essay might be able to get me considered? Also what kind of reach would UCB/UCLA be for me (low, mid, high)? Be brutally honest please.

Extra note: My parents won't have any problems paying, even for OOS costs

Your UC GPA is probably too low, especially as an OOS…

If you can afford OOS, I would just go to a private and not bother applying to UCs. Cal/LA are not worth it out of state IMO… you really only get your money’s worth if you’re paying in state tuition. Only caveat is if you’re REALLY passionate about research.

Yeah, I agree with the above post. You have a better chance of getting into private schools that are as good or even better than Berkeley.

No.
