Do I still have to send subject tests?

My SAT superscore is a 2200 and my ACT is a 33 (don’t have essay yet) if I sent ACT w/writing along with my SAT superscore, would I still have to submit subject tests?

What does the Duke website say about this?

@TomSrOfBoston “All candidates for admission must complete one of the following standardized testing options: the test of the ACT, including the writing exam, or the College Board SAT, plus two SAT Subject Tests. Duke requires that students send their full testing record for either the ACT or SAT and SAT Subject exams taken in high school.”

So if I were to send my ACT w/writing but sent my 2200 superscore as well does that mean I must send subject tests?

Duke requires that students send their “full testing record” for

  1. the ACT

OR

“full testing record” for

  1. SAT
The testing record for SAT is both SAT Reasoning Exam and SAT Subject exams
(So if you go this route you MUST sit for two subject exams)+(you must submit those exams)

@Waiting2exhale so even if I sent in my ACT w/writing the subject tests would still have to be sent?

Ask the admission office.

Ask the admission office.

The key word is “or” in the admissions instructions, Lift35. You choose which route to go. ACT OR SAT (in completion).

Somebody on this site just asked a very similar question (and it’s still on the first page…http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/1810502-act-vs-sat-score-submission.html). No, you do NOT have to submit your SAT IIs. You can submit your ACT (w/ writing) and SAT I scores and are good to go. (The SAT I score being “optional” because you already submitted the ACT. But if you did well on it, might as well submit it too.) On that thread, they were asking if they could submit ACT + SAT IIs without SAT I (so slightly different but still leaving out some of the SAT testing) and Duke admissions told them it was fine.

Hopefully the SAT II’s are optional! Thank you @bluedog! and everyone else who responded

@bluedog I just received an email back from the admissions office, I would not be able to send my SAT I with my ACT w/writing without having to also send SAT II scores. What’s better, a 2200 SAT superscore or a 33 ACT single sitting?

Well, that’s interesting that they gave you and RobBeyer supposedly different answers (slightly different questions, but I wouldn’t have expected it to matter if it’s the SAT I or II…). Google ACT SAT concordance tables to see some opinions on equivalent scores.

This is silly. What does “or” mean to people?
