Do I submit an arts supplement?

Some schools I might apply to have an optional arts submission. I am not going to be majoring in arts (probably bio/neuroscience), but should I still submit one? I have art and dance extracurriculars (and I’ve won awards in them), so I think submitting one would help them see another side of me. Or does it not affect my application? (Do they even consider the arts supplement if I don’t major in the arts?)

My daughter is curious about the same thing. She will probably be neuroscience/psych/undecided but she will have an IB diploma with 4 yrs of HL Art and could submit a portfolio as well. It seems like it would add more holistically to her application but we weren’t sure.

As a follow up, what schools are you applying to that have an optional submission?

My friend got accepted Yale 2024 (she’s going to Princeton), and she said she did submit a dance video to Yale (I’m not sure about Princeton), so I’m guessing she entered an art submission even though she’s planning to major in bioengineering. I saw it on Princeton and UPenn’s page too, but I’m pretty sure UPenn only asks for the supplement if the applicant is majoring in the arts. I’m going to look through a couple more schools (don’t really know which ones).
Sorry, I’m not sure if that helped at all - my friend also had terrific stats that I can’t really match (NJGSS, really good SAT, ranked 1st… etc) but she did imply that the submission may have helped the officers view her admission more holistically. I don’t think it would hurt to give a try, but I’m just seeing if anyone else has other opinions.

^^ I second something along the same lines as the last post. My friend was accepted into Stanford 2024, and she thought a lot of it had to do with her arts supplement. Her extracurriculars and grades were pretty average (though they weren’t bad, just nothing special), but she’s amazing at art and I think submitting her art pieces helped a lot. I would say to definitely go for it – it won’t hurt.
