im really confused on what course i should take in college and as of the moment including the past few weeks i've been researching about these courses. Please. Can someone help me what i should do? :)

Why Medicine?
Yes because....
1.I've always wanted to be able to cure people and i think it would give me fulfillment to to see people become happy
2.i've always had the desire to participate in the medical field
3.medicine is in demand
4.I think i have a passion for it
5.i've had good scores in biology
No because ...
1.Im afraid to see a lot of blood but im not afraid to see my own blood . (i kind of don't know if im just afraid to take it because of all the bloody movies i've watched)
2. im afraid that i'll get a low salary... because i know it'll take some years to to become a professional and have a high salary
3.relating to the one above ... 10 years? i want to work as soon as possible...
4. i have a lot of competition

Why Engineering?
yes because ...
1. I like math and science.
2.in demand
3.high salary
4.i can still become an industrial engineer in a hospital ... so i can still be involve in healthcare
5. less competition?
6. it'll only take me 5 years
7. i hear that every company needs an engineer
no because ...
1. im not so much of a sociable person ... (i mean i can be kind and become a good friend but im painfully shy but right now im reading books ang taking classes to improve my confidence)
2. im not so sure if i can handle machines
3. i wont know how to cure people
4. i don't think it's a unique course

i think im an international applicant … so its really going to take a long time for me to become a professional doctor? … though i dont think i’ll be hired as a doctor if i go abroad …

If you are international, and are hoping to attend medical school in the US, be forewarned that it costs around $300,000. There are very few scholarships for which you would be eligible (actually, none that I’ve heard of - but it’s a big world out there…)

If you complete medical school abroad, there is a small but significant contingent of internationals who come here to do their residencies in harder to fill specialities.

thank you for your advices it’s really helping me
… uhm i don’t live in the US … so is it better for me to become an engineer? …
another question though … does people’s lives depend on me if im an industrial engineer? :)

If you are an international applicant, you should start by reading through everything at [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://educationusa.state.gov/) That will help you understand more about colleges and universities here.

It is very difficult to get a work visa for the US. If you do come here to study, you need to study something that will get you a job in your own country after you graduate.

While most engineers are solidly upper middle class, I wouldn’t say they make a lot of money. If you’re a successful entrepreneur, sure, you can make a lot. But most engineers just bing home a decent salary and live middle class lives. Starting salary in relatively high but salaries peak quickly. Don’t become an engineer for the money.

Just as doctors’ incomes span a wide range from GP to anesthesiology, so do engineering salaries from civil engineering to petroleum engineering

If you really like the medical field but you want to get into the workforce sooner you could become a nurse. Nurse practitioners (at least in the us) make a very good salary and only need 2 years after undergrad school

I don’t know what grade/year u are now, but in the U.S., medicine vs. engineering is not a choice u need to make early. For the freshman year, it pretty much the same core courses: English, math, science. In fact, u can even graduate with an engineering degree, then decide to continue on to medical school.

ok im here im currently enrolled in a school as an engineering student and im regretting it so much everyday i’ve been wishing to go to a med school i mean i’ve told my friends that i really want to go to a medical school and become a nurse but i’ve heard a lot of bad news if i would become a nurse i want to become a nurse because that’s always been my dream from the very start it would really give me fulfilment to know about healthcare and at the same time to know that i could help people. i’ve told my parents about it but the problem is my parents insist that i continue as an engineer especially my father. i don’t know why since the start of summer he’s been insisting that i take a premed course so that in the future i can become a doctor but now he’s the one stopping me from shifting to a pre-med course aaaah im so confused i mean i don’t think a have a passion for solving numbers anymore. if i was to shift what pre-med course would be a good one? or is it just of the moment im not enjoying to study as an engineer. if i were to shift to a pre-med course will i regret my decision? again? will it be harder for me to understand the lessons? again? …
i mean i think i wont study being a doctor because i don’t think i can take it studying for the rest of my life. i think i’ll stay as the job the pre-med course would give me. for example:nurse, occupational therapy, pharmacist, radiologic technology, respiratory theraphy … im really confused

i don’t know if i still can ask my friends… im kind of shy to talk about this with them… because i don’t want to express my unhappiness with them because i know it’ll affect them too . i don’t want to bother them or anything because i kind of know that they might not know the answers to this problem… but i know people here have experience so i might get help here :)
