Curious if it is fun or not

MUN, imo, you either love or hate. Try it out. Give it some time. If you don’t enjoy it then just drop it. I personally LOVE model un, but I know people that absolutely hate it.

I’ve done it the past few years and enjoyed it a lot. You can have vastly different experiences at a conference depending on what you decide to do. A lot of people go to learn about and debate international issues, and that’s definitely interesting but it’s easy to get sick of it after a few days. Our conference is 3 days long during a school week at a pretty nice hotel, so some people go to skip school and have fun with their friends. You’ll also get a lot of people looking to make friends or meet people of the opposite gender. There’s about 1000 people at our conference so you get all types.

Keep in mind, your school might go to a model UN assembly that is much less conducive to screwing around and meeting people than mine. And don’t misinterpret my post either, my MUN is not Hedonism II. Besides the dance on the last night, there’s not too much of that kind of stuff. Ask people who have done it at your school, they’d know better than me what goes on at yours.

It’s definitely worth trying it, regardless of which of those groups you think you’d fit in. Try to convince at least a few of your friends to go too. I’d be happy to answer any other questions you have.
