Wow this sounds like a dumb question but I have good reasoning!

When I was born, the hospital messed up my name and I'm missing a letter. Let's say my name is Camille. But my birth certificate says Camile. :-(
At school, I'm Camille and they use that for my transcript and my school ID. When I took the PSAT and AP exams, I wrote down Camille. I did go through a name change a couple of weeks ago but it hasn't been approved yet. (court takes 4evr)

I am planning on taking the SAT very very soon and my question is do I use Camille or Camile when registering? Thank you!

I would put down Camille, considering that you just changed it to the right name (I hope). College applications will require that you apply with your name that appears on official documents. Hopefully your name will be officially changed, and it shouldn’t be a problem.

You can also write a brief explanation (similar to what you wrote above) – if I remember correctly, CommonApp allows this, as do the other online application systems.

That should take care of it. You’re clearly not pretending to be who you aren’t, so it’s not a big deal.

The most important thing is that the name on your test score match the name you put on your college applications so the two can easily be matched by the colleges when you apply, presumably next fall. Since you will undoubtedly be applying to colleges as Camille, use it for the test application.
