do ihave to

take the sat and the sat 2 in three subjects, when the college ask for it??
i am still new at town and i think it is a hard thing to make 4 tests.
thanks.

no, ignore it if you don't want to. In fact, treat everything the colleges ask for as optional. Too much trouble to write essays? Skip them! Sending transcripts a pain? Don't!

I'll give you a less sarcastic response. If a college asks for something, it's generally not a good idea to skip out on it.

Well you basically have to take the SAT/ACT - I know there are a few colleges that don't require them, but those are a very small minority. As for the SAT IIs, most top schools require two or three as well as the regular SAT I/ACT. If you already know which colleges you are interested in, check and see if they require the subject tests. If you are not sure, I would definitely take a few in case.

so if i want to take the sat what should i study?
like is there a special book or something.?

Check out the SAT prep section of this board.

And yes, if a college you apply to requires a certain number of subject tests, you'll need to take them.

also, you can take up to three subject tests at once, so you would only need to schedule two sittings for the test.

If you search on Google, I think you'll find a list of schools that don't require SATs (such as Bowdoin and Mount Holyoke).

There's way too much sarcasm on CC. Don't you guys agree???

Many schools will accept the ACT in leu of SAT + SAT IIs. I would look into those schools if you don't want to bother taking SAT IIs.

lol.... thats true

So does not taking them disqualify you?? Let's say I apply to UCSB with like a 2200+ SAT and 3.8 GPA, will they automatically disqualify me because of the SAT 2's?

probably not.... but they want to see academically qualified students
