How many students get accepted like is it high or low because i cannot find a humber or approximation anywhere, especially for revelle students.

well for medical schools, basically any decent school will do. GPA, research, is the most important. if someone from UCI got a 4.0, and someone from CAL etc got a 3.5 ish. it would be in the UCI student's favor. with med school, esp. prestige doesnt matter as much as say, law or business.

but yes, many UCSD students get into med schools- but the same can be said for many of the other UCs as well.

In fact, i have known many people who chose UCI over UCLA because they are more likely to get a higher GPA at UCI- plus there is less pressure- more laid back atmosphere compared to the man eating/ suicide causing competition at some of the tougher colleges.

so it looks like just a hair under 50% for most years, which is pretty close to the national admissions rate.

When D went to an orientation at UCLA, they said to be very leery of any posted medical schools admissions rates. Many of them compare apples to oranges (don't use the same factors), which can be very misleading. As with any pre-med applying to medical school, you really need to be the whole package. I don't think it's as important where you go to undergraduate school as it is where you go to medical school.

Yeah, I remember Berkeley posting this thing about a program they have with UCSF where a Berkeley undergrad ends up double majoring in public health (stepping stone to hospital director) and med school at UCSF. The program also stated that 89% of Berkeley's undergrads get into at least a med school...provided that they maintain a 3.8 GPA and do extremely well on the MCAT. Great way of artificially inflating things >_>;;

yeah undergrad is like... the salad at dinner. med school is THE DESSERT!

yes more important as you can see with my wonderful metaphor.

gogogo,

Prestige doesn't even matter much for law school. Law and med both are largely concerned with grades and standardized test scores.

Number of UCSD biology majors with >3.5 GPAs needed to get into med school is around ~20%
