Do Masters Programs Typically Let you Defer Admission?

I'm taking a year off between undergrad and grad school. I know that a lot of undergrad schools let you defer admission for a year. Do grad schools typically offer that? It'd really be nice to have a year to prepare, knowing where I'd end up for grad school...

It is extremely rare, and will take a VERY good excuse for them to grant it. Taking a year off to travel, or just work a normal job, is not going to cut it. The number of people they admit year to year changes, along with the needs of the faculty. Acceptances are not as consistent as they are in undergrad, where a person with the same stats would have virtually the same chance of admission regardless of the year.

This is a question that's best directed to each program's administrative staff. Some programs will allow deferral, and some won't.

My fiance is currently deferring his acceptance to an aerospace engineering master's program, although I think it helps that he won't need support when he comes back to the program -- the company for which he's working in the interim will fund his master's.
