I applied out-of-state to UNC as a Communications Major. I realize that I'm a long shot...but could you give me your opinion on my chances for admission. How much does diversity play in admissions?

In all honesty, it would be very tough for an in-state student to get in with your SAT scores GPA, so OSS would be even harder, and while URM and First Gen. college may help, I don’t think they will make up for the test scores and GPA, but anything can happen. Also how do you have a lower weighted than unweighted?

Replace the word “Weighted” with Cumulative and the word Unweighted with “Current” I had a terrible Sophomore year, but other than that my grades have been pretty decent

Sorry, you’d be lucky to get into UNC with that SAT as an instate applicant. Though maybe if your LoRs and your essays were amazing you might still have a shot. You won’t know unless you apply and the worst thing that can happen is that they reject you.

Just remember to not put all of your eggs in an exploding basket, make sure you’ve applied to other schools that you are sure to get into.

Good Luck from another UNC applicant hoping for miracles with a low SAT score!

I know UNC is harder to get into than U-M as anOOS student, but I got into U-M with a 1550 (not-super scored) SAT. Good luck and pray!
