Do MOOCs belong in applications

Hi!

I was wondering what everyone thinks about including MOOCs (massive open online courses) on college applications. I’d like to include some of the many I’ve taken but don’t know whether I should, and if so where to include them.

Mine specifically would be a B1-B2 level French course from SciencesPo (a prestigious French uni) that I’m taking because my school only has French through the A2 level, and a few law and history courses from Yale, the University of Geneva and UChicago. I’m an aspiring pre-law track poliscience major.

I don’t have any certificates since they charge for most, but probably will be taking the DELF (international French government exams) at the B1 level.

They are ECs and can be listed as such. But I wouldn’t expect the names of the universities to carry any weight. The important thing is that you’ve taken initiative to expand your learning beyond your school’s curriculum.
