We are new to this process and waiting on regular decision admissions. Do most schools that don't have rolling admissions wait until the end of March?Specifically, looking at Georgetown, George Washington, Tufts, BC and BU. I hate uncertainty!

End of March is a big time, though some schools give out decisions in early May, sometimes extending as late as May 15th.

You can look on each school's website to get more information. Usually this question is answered, at least in vague terms, somewhere on the site.

I'm not aware of any college that waits until May to make decisions available. Most RD decisions are announced in the middle to end of March. Ivies are generally among the last to announce decisions, at the beginning of April. May 1 is the deadline for students to decide which college to attend.

I guess that is what I thought - some of the college websites are not as easy to navigate and find deadlines for acceptance. We don't want to schedule trips to visit in depth until we know where she'll be accepted, so we'll be scrambling in April.

Go to collegeboard.com, and add the schools to your list. Then, go to your calendar in your personal profile page and it'll say all teh acceptance deadlines.

Eh, my brain's not working today. I meant March and April in my post instead of April and May. Sorry about that.

I am glad to see that I am not the only person who has a hard time dealing with this uncertainty.

DD applied to 8 schools, 7 RD and one rolling. Out of the 7 RD, we will know something about two before March. Because she applied some major scholarships which require on site interview. If DD got to the semi stage, we would think she is in but may not get the aid. If she did not get even a call in Feb, then we would also know the outcome.

Most of the accepted student organized visits were mid-April - 2nd and 3rd week. I believe we heard from all the schools by April 1. In my day the letters got sent out April 15 - just like taxes.

As a general advisory to folks -- Passover this year begins and ends on weekends in April. It starts at sunset, Saturday, April 19th and ends after sundown on April 27th. Don't be surprised if a lot of colleges try to scedule accepted student weekends around this.

This year our school system has Spring Break in late March -- in some cases, we won't know if he's been accepted by then, and in other cases, the colleges are on spring break themselves that week. Grrr. I have a kid who wants to visit schools at times other than the big PR fest. Should be fun trying to wrangle with the friendly HS Attendance Office!
