Hey everyone. So I’m going to a freshman nursing major and was wondering what type of bag I should get for college. I think the Vera Bradley campus backpacks are cute, but what else? I’m taking 17.5 credits my first semester and won’t have a lot of time in between my classes to switch folders & books, so I’m leaning more towards a backpack than a tote. What do most girls use at your college though? Brand names or bag names would be helpful. Thanks!!

It really just depends on what you’re most comfortable with and what fits your needs.
Standard backpacks are still the norm. On light days I know some people will switch to a large purse, but it has to at least hold your laptop.
It sounds like backpack is the way to go in your case.
I wouldn’t use a tote- I used one when they were all the rage in middle school and always came home with a sore back. I got a Fossil brand canvas and leather backpack for college, which I love. It’s technically “men’s” but is pretty unisex in my opinion. It’s on the smaller side, but fits my laptop and some notebooks and my wallet, so I’m good with it.
If you want to go the purse route, get a crossbody. If it’s full of stuff, it’s way more comfortable for the strap to be across your chest instead of having the weight all on one shoulder.

@PengsPhils Yeah I’m probably going to bring a purse or tote just in case, although I have 2 - 3 classes every day so I’ll probably be using a backpack most of the time. Thanks!!

Backpacks are the logical choice, regardless of any cute factor. Having a smaller bag for when you just need to bring one book or something like that could be handy. However, your back will very much prefer a backpack in general.
I really liked my Vera Bradley cross body messenger bag for college. It was great for me because I rarely needed to take large textbooks with me to campus.
