Do most internationals have their parents accompanying them for the first day?

In general, do you see more internationals coming on their own, with all their luggage; or, do they come with their parents?

Not sure if it's worth my parents coming, to be honest... but, then again, I will have plenty of luggage.

Also, how much luggage does the average international student bring?

Thanks

I don’t know how much luggage they bring, but I have a few international friends and they didn’t have their parents come with them.

There are a number of international students in my hall, and to the best of my knowledge, they all flew without their parents. In terms of luggage, most came with only one or two suitcases of necessities (mostly clothes) and purchased everything else that they needed here.

A lot of domestic students don’t have their parents come!

I think it depends on your family.

I came with my Dad. That way we could have more checked luggage than if I came alone. Plus it was really nice to have him here during orientation because my hall was totally empty so stayed with him in the hotel. I would have hated to arrive here all alone and have to work out how to get to/into my uni with 2 suitcases and without any help. However that was only 1st semester of 1st year, when I came back for 2nd semester I came alone.
