Hi everyone i was going through one of the posts that talked about how many colleges people are applying to and people on average say like 8-10 and sometimes more so if application cost for top universities are around $65 and you apply to ten of them you'd have to pay $650 right? Does the common application minimize this cost at all or is it just a time saver?

Time saver...you've got to pay the fee for each college. I'll be spending just over $700 on apps.

Yeah, we're spending a fortune. :(

11 schools & less than $200. It depends on the schools. Make sure you check to see if online application is free. That helps!

Most students aren't applying to as many colleges as CC users do. That's because most students apply to colleges that accept the majority of their applicants. I'm guessing that most students spend less than $100 on app fees.

^ True!!! CC is its own, odd little world.

don't forget the fees for test scores, transcripts, etc. and the cost pf applying can easily be $1000 or more. Then again looking at $180,000 bill for 4 years of schools the cost to apply is really noise in the big picture ... I wouldn't suggest making decisions on whether to apply or not based on the incremental cost of an application.
